A College Experience Unlike The Norm

The start of a new beginning at Colorado Mountain College has been quite a change from the normal college setting with several thousand students at a campus to just several hundred. To me it is for the better where the student can have more of a personal and educational experience with their professors. It is not everyday that your professor may sit down with you for breakfast, lunch or even dinner.

This experience does not stop with the professors wanting to know you on a personal level. It also transfers through the programs that the college has to offer in many different ways. For example the Ski Area Operations program in Leadville like many of the programs has quite a unique experience for students to explore. These classes range from being able specialize as a Lift Mechanic, a Ski Patroller and a Snow Maker just to name a few, if you are a student who doesn’t want to go into a specific area of Ski Area Operations that is just fine too. The wide range of classes that the program offers also makes it, so the student can have a broader base degree if they want.

Many of the classes have labs that go along with them to help the student have a better understanding of what they are trying learn. But unlike the traditional lab setting at many colleges where the students are stuck inside a classroom learning about the material that is not the case at CMC. This is one of the great things that I enjoy being out in the field and being able to put your knowledge that you have learned to work. It is something that you will not find unless you are at a trade school. These are just some of the things that make Colorado Mountain College an experience unlike the norm.
